The public is invited to a Norwegian chip carving demonstration at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum in Bismarck Friday, Feb. 23, 12:30-4:30 p.m. North Dakota artist Jim Paulson of Skanderna Wood Works, LLC will demonstrate the art of low relief carving, a style dating back to the 12th century in Norway. Paulson will show how he uses basic carving tools, such as gouges, v-tools, and knives, to carve depictions of mythical creatures resembling horses, lions, serpents, and dragons.
