The public is invited to a day of art activities geared toward all ages on Monday, Aug. 7, at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum, Bismarck. The activities are in conjunction with the opening of the new exhibit, “There’s a Story There: Art in the State Collections,” which features 19 artworks spanning the 1830s to 2011. 9:30-10:30 a.m. Toddlers through second graders will learn about drawing faces using crayons and markers. All children must be accompanied by a guardian. No reservation is required. 12-1:30 p.m. Students in grades three through seven will review skills related to painting and create portraits. No reservation is required. 3-5 p.m. Students in grade eight through age 20 will learn skills related to painting and creating portraits. Art conservation will also be discussed. Artist Kim Eslinger will teach participants how to use acrylic paints to create a portrait of Medora de Morès, the town’s namesake.
