DESCRIPTION:The public is invited to a day of art activities geared toward all ages on Monday\, Aug. 7\, at the North Dakota Heritage Center & State Museum\, Bismarck. The activities are in conjunction with the opening of the new exhibit\, "There's a Story There: Art in the State Collections\," which features 19 artworks spanning the 1830s to 2011. 9:30-10:30 a.m. Toddlers through second graders will learn about drawing faces using crayons and markers. All children must be accompanied by a guardian. No reservation is required. 12-1:30 p.m. Students in grades three through seven will review skills related to painting and create portraits. No reservation is required. 3-5 p.m. Students in grade eight through age 20 will learn skills related to painting and creating portraits. Art conservation will also be discussed. Call 701.328.2792 to reserve a spot. 6-8:30 p.m. "Paint and Sip: Portraits" is an event for ages 21 and older. Artist Kim Eslinger will teach participants how to use acrylic paints to create a portrait of Medora de Mor s\, the town's namesake. Light appetizers will be served\, and beverages will be available for purchase. Tickets are $15 and available to purchase at paint-sip-aug7.eventbrite.com.
